Perry was born to Laurie Metcalf (actor) and Jeff Perry (actor). The character Jackie Harris was played by her mother in each of the two episodes she appeared on Roseanne. In 2017, she played an recurring role in her own ABC political thriller Scandal with her father. She played the younger Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon. This spin-off episode that was part of the CBS show The Big Bang Theory was another portrayal by her younger mother.
